Why do females gossip so much?

I'll admit to gossiping, but I don't do it that often because I know how I would feel if I knew people were talking about me behind my back. but I've never experienced as much gossip as I do at my current job. I work at a childcare center and there are two teachers there I converse with more than the others. those two particular teachers are constantly gossiping. they barley gossip to me, probably because I'm not much of a gossiper. I've grown a bit insecure around them because I've realized that if people gossip to you, chances are they gossip about you as well. I have several male friends, along with a boyfriend...and none of them gossip...ever. it's only the females I know that do it.
